Full scale oil- and gas fires experiment by Scandpower

An educational course on oil and gas fires was successfully held in Trondheim, Norway, September 2012, by SINTEF NBL, Scandpower and ComputIT.

The course, "Frontline knowledge on experience and calculation tools" with the main theme "Fire water and large fire deluge experiments" was held over three days and included a demonstration of a full-scale fire deluge test at SINTEF NBL’s test site at Tiller, Trondheim.

The participants got insight into possibilities and limitations of existing calculation tools, and got experts’ view on how to use such tools in hazard analysis and in engineering projects.

They were excited to see, hear, feel and smell the effect of an oil fire with a release rate of about 3 kg/s (Approximately 120 MW).
