Expanded collaboration with DNV GL - Business Assurance

Steinsvik and DNV GL - Business Assurance have signed a framework agreement on product certification of barges for aquaculture.

Steinsvik is a supplier of equipment that is essential for profitable, sustainable and safe operation of fish farms. Steinsvik is located in Norway, Scotland, Chile, Vietnam, Canada, Oceania, Turkey and the Faroe Islands.

DNV GL- Business Assurance is one of the world’s leading certification bodies. They help businesses assure the performance of their organizations, products, people, facilities and supply chains through certification, verification, assessment, and training services.

The certification is done according to NYTEK regulations and NS 9415. The agreement includes follow up of steel production work done at the workshops where the barges are produced. DNV GL's international presence means that they will use their local offices where production takes place for inspections during the production process.

16 BARGES 2016

“This MoU expands and continues the cooperation we have had with Noomas, acquired by DNV GL - Business Assurance in 2015”, says Head of Projects in Steinsvik, Ronny Askeland. “The trend is towards tougher localities and increased documentation requirements of product certification for our customers. We note an increased focus on barges which safeguard future needs”.

Steinsvik is set to supply 16 barges 2016 alone, so the collaboration will lighten the work load for our project team, and allow us an even closer focus on the barges' main functions and its central feeding system. The agreement with DNV GL - Business Assurance assures the quality design and documentation, and we are pleased to partner with a world-leading certification body for our barges.

Liv Solveig Olafsson, head of section of Aquaculture services in DNV GL - Business Assurance says: “We consider Steinsvik to be a major player in the industry and are very pleased with this agreement. We are excited about the fact that we, through our global presence, can contribute to a win-win situation for both parties under close monitoring of the production process”.
