Crabs to America

Norwegian crab fishermen are invading the American market with king crabs from the Varanger Fjord in Finnmark, near the Russian border.

The giant Norwegian crabs, which are brought to land alive and snapping, will be specially packed and flown to the United States twice weekly by Bugøynes Kongekrabbe AS. By storing a portion of the live catch in sea cages, the Norwegians will be able to supply fresh crab to the United States long after the Alaskan king crab season closes.
