Bondevik takes popularity lead

Christian Democrat Kjell Magne Bondevik's stock is rising again at the expense of Labour Party Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.

In the November poll taken by Opinion for Aftenposten, 37 percent of participants said they favoured Bondevik for prime minister after next year's parliamentary elections. Only 23 percent said they supported Mr. Stoltenberg, representing a decline in support of 9 percent since June. Mr. Bondevik was prime minister at the head of a three-party centrist coalition for two and a half years until last March, when Mr. Stoltenberg's Labour Party recaptured the government it has ruled for much of the post-World War II period.
