Aker Maritime wins Australian job

Phillips Petroleum of the United States has hired Aker Maritime to help lead construction of three production platforms for the Bayu Undan field off Australia. The contract is worth some USD 23 million (NOK 200 million) to the Norwegian oil services provider. Aker Maritime and Clough Engineering will complete deck work on the three platforms and then install them atop support structures out in the field, where production is due to start in 2004. In reporting the deal to the Oslo Stock Exchange, Aker Maritime said its offshore expertise was increasingly in demand globally.
