Dolphin Interconnect Solutions ASA today announced 'Dolphin Express', it's integrated architecture for delivering industry leading database cluster application response time and throughput supporting standard cluster applications such as Oracle RAC and MySQL Cluster. Additionally, Dolphin introduced its first products implementing the Dolphin Express architecture which are available immediately. Dolphin Express is a layered software and hardware architecture tuned by Dolphin to seamlessly integrate standard off-the-shelf cluster applications and standard low cost servers. Dolphin Express provides the highest application performance for database cluster applications and provides the lowest total cost of ownership and operation.
Dolphin Express software, called SuperSockets, provides a low latency 'sockets' interface for standard cluster applications. The standard interfaces of Dolphin Express software insure complete software application compatibility while allowing for the evolution to faster and more powerful hardware technology over time. Customers can easily adopt Dolphin Express now and guarantee long term investment protection of their application software. Dolphin Express hardware leverages the industry move to PCI Express and consists of super low latency interconnect modules that plug into standard PCI Express slots in standard servers supporting cost effective clusters from 2 to 100's of database nodes. Over time Dolphin Express will leverage direct connection to PCI Express IO devices and other PCI Express developments including Gen2 physical layer (5Gbps/lane) and PCI Express IOV technology.
