45 million NOK for innovative cancer treatments and diagnostics

In 2014 "The Norwegian Cancer Society" initiated collaboration with the Norwegian Research Council through the programmes BIOTEK2021 and FORNY2020 to support promising cancer related research with a future commercial potential. The collaboration has resulted in a joint call of 45 million NOK for projects related to innovative cancer treatment and diagnostics where all three parties contribute equally. Foto. Shutterstock

The aim of the "optimisation" funding is to give research communities an opportunity to explore the commercial potential in existing research results. After a successful "optimisation" project, the project is expected to be mature enough to apply for a verification project with FORNY2020 where they invite commercial partners in order to realise the potential. In this call, it will be possible to apply for funding for optimisation and/or verification of biotechnological research results within innovative cancer treatments and diagnostics that can be developed towards a future commercial application.

Funding is available for both R&D and commercial activities where the research should lie on the continuum between basic research and clinical research. The applicants for this call will be technology transfer offices (TTOs) who are connected to research institutions. The call closes on the 9th September 2015.
