40th Anniversary Celebrations

1972 saw the establishment of the Norwegian Ministry of the Environment, the first of its kind in the world. We celebrate the 40th anniversary with snapshots from our history and with a look ahead – to a sustainable future.

What is the status of the environment in Norway and globally after 40 years? What will the next 40 years be like? Which problems have been solved and which challenges must we rise to in the future? These are some of the issues we present and discuss at the House of Literature in Oslo between 8 and 10 May.

The Elders in conversation with young global leaders
Desmond Tutu, Mary Robinson and Gro Harlem Brundtland discussed with two young ambassadors the obstacles and opportunities on the path to a sustainable future.
