Solid growth in air transport

Passenger air transport in Norway increased its turnover by 18.4 per cent in the 3rd quarter of 2012 compared to the same quarter in 2011.

Freight air transport increased turnover by 13.4 per cent in the same period, Statistics Norway reports. Transport by sea increased the turnover by 9 per cent in the 3rd quarter compared to the same quarter in 2011. Freight transport by road increased turnover by 4.1 per cent from the 3rd quarter in 2011 to the 3rd quarter in 2012. Passenger rail transport increased a mere 1 per cent from the 3rd quarter in 2011, whilst freight rail transport continued to decrease, down 6.9 per cent in the 3rd quarter of 2012 compared to the same period in the previous the year. Hotels grew by 2.4 per cent and restaurants grew by 6.2 per cent from the 3rd quarter in 2011 to the same quarter in 2012.
