The Department of Civil and Transport Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology (NTNU) hereby announces a vacant position of Marie Curie Fellow (Experienced Researcher) within the Marie Curie FP7 IAPP Action "CREEP" (FP7-PEOPLE-2011-IAPP Project 286397) - Creep of Geomaterials. The fellow will work with the Geotechnical Engineering Group at the department, which has its main research within advanced numerical simulations of soil behavior, advanced laboratory soil testing and field investigations. The appointed fellow will be involved in constitutive model development, verification and validation, with focus on modeling and/or testing rate-dependent behavior of natural soils. The holder of the post is supposed to play an active role in the EC/FP7 funded IAPP (Industry Academia Pathways and Partnerships) project CREEP (Creep of Geomaterials), focusing on research and knowledge exchange. The position is an 18 month appointment.
- A degree in Engineering, and at least 4 years of full time research experience i geotechnics/geomechanics or a similar topic.
- Ability and genuine interest to engage in research on creep of soil.
- Expertise in constitutive modeling.
- Fluency in both spoken and written English, as necessary for collaborations with network partners.
Marie Curie Actions are special EC funded Research Training Actions which have special conditions for mobility & experience. To be appointed, the Fellow must simultaneously fulfill the following criteria at the time of recruitment by NTNU: (a) Mobility The researcher must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity in Norway, for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to his/her recruitment under the project. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account. (b) Qualifications and research experience To be eligible, the researcher must be in possession of a doctoral degree or have at least 4 years of research experience (full-time equivalent) after obtaining the degree which formally allows him/her to embark on a doctorate in the country, which the degree/diploma was obtained in, or in Norway. Conditions of appointment: The position is remunerated according to the Norwegian State salary scale. Researchers without a PhD (code 1108) are remunerated at wage level 47-71, gross NOK 401 100- 615 700 per annum (before tax). Researchers with a PhD (code 1109) are remunerated at wage level 57- 77, gross NOK 473 100 - 693 300 per annum (before tax). There will be a 2 % deduction to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund from gross salary. The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants.
