In order to support this ongoing growth and development of capability, Rolls-Royce is seeking to appoint to the post of Global Purchasing Executive – Indirect, with this person assuming responsibility for all indirect purchasing worldwide for Rolls-Royce’s Marine division. Further responsibilities will include:
Developing, approving and executing defined indirect purchasing strategies covering global commodities, sourcing and suppliers. To ensure that all sourcing meets project requirements, that global supply chain performance meets business requirements and that effective supply chains are developed. This will involve managing spend of £300 million per annum, establishing the indirect purchasing structure and ensure Rolls-Royce receives maximum value from the money it spends.
Assuming ultimate responsibility for relationships with suppliers (both in Scandinavia, where Rolls-Royce has a strong supply base, and internationally) and, where appropriate, creating personal relationships at the highest levels within them. To establish strategic partnerships that drive mutual benefit and productivity, to become accountable for negotiations with suppliers and to become the point of escalation for the resolution of commercial and general supplier performance issues.
Assuming ultimate responsibility for all indirect purchasing KPIs regarding supplier, service provision and supply chain performance. To reduce lead times, lower cost and improve quality.
Assuming accountability for global quality performance regarding indirect purchasing.
Leading a team of buyers and purchasing managers, with these people being situated across Finland, Norway, Poland and Sweden. To ensure these personnel comply with purchasing processes and that they are fully aware of Rolls-Royce indirect purchasing strategy and supply chain. Furthermore, to provide these personnel with the support, personal development and training they require.
Building strong relationships with peers and key stakeholders across Rolls-Royce, working with them on joint initiatives and encouraging best practice and continuous improvement.
Producing forecasting, budgeting and other forms of reporting for senior management as required.
The Global Purchasing Executive – Indirect may be based in Rauma, Finland, Kristinehamm, Sweden or Alesund or Bergen, Norway. Frequent travel across Scandinavia, Poland and the UK will be required.

The successful applicant will possess a proven track record in a senior purchasing role and will ideally be managing people and have an international remit. The sector in which this experience has been gained is not important but experience of indirect purchasing is essential, as are highly developed supplier and purchasing management skills. The successful applicant will also be commercially minded and will possess excellent communications, people management, influencing, organisational and analytical skills, as well as high levels of self-motivation and credibility. A high degree of English language capability is required.
