Job Description

The Fire & Gas Upgrade Project is a HSE project and defined as a “license to operate” project. This project is one of the mitigation projects proposed by Statfjord license and approved by authorities in order to extend functional Life Time (FLT) of platforms to 2031. This project will be one of the biggest modification projects onboard 2 platforms in coming years and will be executed during 2012-2016.
Currently project is under execution with ApplySørco as EPCI contractor.
The main elements of the project consist of:

  • Upgrade SFB/C F&G control system
  • Upgrade SFB/C field instrumentation by replacing and upgrading of:
    • Installation of new cable ladders and cable trays
    • Installation of new fire and gas detectors
    • Installation of new multi core cables
    • Installation of new F&G CAP panels and LCD screens
  • Field activities

Technical safety responsibilities:

  • Be a role model and demonstrate a zero mindset in terms of HSE
  • Ensure compliance with Company requirements and national/ international authority requirements
  • Overall responsibility for the coordination of activities related to technical safety in close cooperation with Asset, EPCI contractor and vendors
  • Ensure good communication with Operations and the technical expertise within company and calibrate technical solutions early to avoid late changes. Involve these in QA/QC for proposed solutions
  • Be “hands on” with regard to early identification of possible design changes and evaluate and recommend proposals based on both technical feasibility and cost
  • Follow up contractor’s activities and progress within the discipline and ensure that engineering deliverables are provided in accordance with the execution plan for the project and to acceptable quality
  • Actively participate in establishing solutions related to TTS findings and closing of these
  • Revision of technical safety documentation and procedures for all the project phases
  • nitiate, manage and follow-up the ALARP process in the project
  • Identify and control risks and regularly update the project risk register and risk analysis
  • Develop system for follow-up in operation for the barriers given in TR 1055 and contribute to establishing test and operational procedures for these barriers
  • Participate in contractor technical safety reviews and audits. Follow-up agreed actions and recommendations
  • Prepare/update technical safety sections of project documentation such as Scope of Work for the contractors, tender documents, etc
  • Be in close contact with the safety discipline network and involve discipline advisors when required
  • Contribute to a good working environment



  • Higher education in Process Safety/Technical Safety
  • Minimum 3 years of experience Process Safety/Technical Safety in projects
  • Insight into the authorities’ regulations and technical standards and preferably company requirements
  • Language requirements :Norwegian and English oral and written
